Dr. Karen Parhar was born in North Vancouver, British Columbia. After completing high school at St. Thomas Aquinas, she went to the University of British Columbia to complete her Bachelor of Arts in honour’s psychology. In 2001, she moved to Saskatoon, Saskatchewan to complete her Masters degree in Applied Social Psychology (Forensic Concentration), which she was awarded in 2004. Karen received her Ph.D. in Applied Social Psychology (Forensic Concentration) in 2011 with her research focusing on crime desistance, or how offenders stop offending ... more ...

Karen has experience in film and television in the areas of acting, writing, production managing and producing. She is currently working as a Producer/Production Manager on various projects for Fahrenheit Films.  (Fahrenheit Films is on Facebook).  

Recent News:

Karen is faculty in the Psychology Department of Kwantlen Polytechnic University in Surrey, British Columbia. January 2011.

Karen was in Toronto working as a Senior Research and Evaluation Analyst for the Ministry of Community Safety and Correctional Services. May 2010.  

Karen was a "Go Girls" group facilitator for Big Brothers Big Sisters of Saskatoon. Helping young girls build self-esteem and live a healthy and active lifestyle. February-April 2010.

Karen taught PSY 230 "Theories and Treatment of Criminal Behaviour" in Term 2 of the 2009/10 academic year at the University of Saskatchewan.

Karen was featured on an episode of CBC's television series Dragon's Den on Wednesday October 21, 2009. Be sure to check it out.

Karen was a group only volunteer and on the fundraising committee for Big Brothers Big Sisters of Saskatoon.
